US e-commerce giant Amazon is in talks to purchase Italian club Inter Milan from current owner Steven Zhang and positive talks have been held so far over a possible takeover.
Parent organisation Suning has tasked American financier Goldman Sachs with finding a potential buyer as debt increases and fan outcries wanting Suning to leave the club coupled with pressure from the Chinese government have finally paid off.
Amazon have submitted an initial bid believed to be around $913M, but it was rejected due to the sum being $287M less than what Suning demanded. The bid was sent through an unnamed company that Amazon is using to negotiate a potential purchase of the Serie A club.
There is skepticism about the deal happening due to tensions between the US and China over the Taiwan Strait. With this in mind, the Chinese government could influence the deal when it comes to a potential buyer though it has not been entirely ruled out.
